"I'm lonely, but I'm not sad." Readers are shedding tears over the warm memories left behind by their dogs. An omnibus essay depicting the final moments of five pairs of elderly dogs and their owners. -Chapter 1- May, a Shetland Sheepdog who would always show her belly to cheer me up whenever I was feeling down. "Even when you grew old and we had to give up on treatment, and even when moving was a struggle, you still desperately tried to show me your belly to cheer me up." -Chapter 2- Kelly, a Toy Poodle who required long-term nursing care. "No matter how difficult the care was, whenever Kelly sneezed, I felt like she was still doing okay, and that gave me the strength to keep going." -Chapter 3- Coco, a mix of a Labrador Retriever and a Standard Poodle who was a tomboy and wouldn't listen. "For me, who always tried to be perfect, those mud-covered days with you were an irreplaceable treasure." These and other stories, including the real-life experiences of the author, Iriko Aoi, as well as five true stories based on interviews, are included. A gentle love story that makes you want to see that child who crossed the Rainbow Bridge, and makes you want to express your gratitude to the pet you have now.
