Meet MangaDachi — your personal manga recommendations assistant

Most manga recommendation lists are kind of useless. They're either the same 10 titles everyone already knows, or they're buried in a Reddit thread from 2019 with half the links broken. If you've ever finished a series you loved and spent the next hour desperately searching for something similar, you know the frustration.

MangaDachi fixes that.

What is MangaDachi?

MangaDachi is a free AI-powered recommendations assistant for manga, manhwa, and manhua. You just tell it what you want — "something like Solo Leveling but with better world-building" or "a shonen similar to One Punch Man" or "a slow burn romance manhwa that doesn't drag on forever" — and it comes back with a list of picks, each with a cover image, rating, and a direct link. No digging around, no cross-referencing five different sites. Just recommendations that actually make sense for what you asked.

What can you ask it?

Anything, really. Want a completed series because you refuse to read something ongoing? Ask. Looking for something short you can finish over a weekend? Ask. Need a horror manhwa that's actually scary and not just edgy? Ask that too.

It covers the full range: action, romance, isekai, psychological thriller, slice of life, sports, mystery, fantasy, horror. Japanese manga, Korean manhwa, Chinese manhua. Niche subgenres included. The database is large enough that even if you've read a lot, there's a good chance it'll surface something you haven't come across yet.

Pick a personality

You can choose between waifu mode or husbando mode for your assistant's personality. It's a small thing but it makes the whole experience a lot more fun. Feels less like talking to a search bar and more like asking a friend who happens to have read an unreasonable amount of manga.

Set your preferences

If you have go-to genres, you can save them so MangaDachi already knows your taste before you say anything. Use !addpref to set your favourites, !showpref to see what's saved, and !removepref or !clearpref to update them anytime. It's handy if you find yourself asking for the same kinds of titles repeatedly — you just skip that part of the conversation entirely and get straight to the good stuff.

Track what you've read

MangaDachi doesn't just recommend, it remembers. When a title comes up, you can mark it as seen, jump straight to Chapter 1, or react with Like, Love, or Dislike. Over time this helps MangaDachi understand your taste better and filters out stuff you've already read from future recommendations. It's a small thing that makes a noticeable difference the more you use it.

Why it works better than just Googling

Google gives you popular. MangaDachi gives you relevant. You can keep the conversation going mid-session. "Actually make it less dark" or "same vibe but completed" and it adjusts. It's the back-and-forth that makes the difference. You get closer to what you actually want instead of settling for whatever ranks highest.

How to use it

Join our Discord server, go to the #manga-recommendations channel and type !rec <your_query>. If you prefer to keep your conversations private, type !dm and MangaDachi will message you directly.

If you've got a backlog problem or a "nothing to read" problem, it's worth trying. Takes about 30 seconds to get started.
